Acarbose is a medication used to help control blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes. It does this by slowing down the digestion of carbohydrates in the food you eat, which helps prevent blood sugar spikes after meals. Acarbose is typically prescribed to be taken with meals to help manage diabetes and keep blood sugar levels in a healthy range.
Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Inadequately Controlled By Diet With Or Without Oral Hypoglycaemic Drugs:
Dosage:
- Adult: Initially 50 Mg Daily, Then Increased To 50 Mg 3 Times A Day For 6-8 Weeks, Then Increased If Necessary To 100 Mg 3 Times A Day (max. 200 Mg 3 Times A Day)
- Children: Not Recommended.

- Hernia, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Intestinal Obstruction, Previous Abdominal Surgery, Hepatic Or Severe Renal Impairment, Colonic Ulceration, Intestinal Obstruction, Chronic Digestive Or Absorption Disorders, Conditions Exacerbated By Flatulence.
