Cyproterone acetate and ethinylestradiol are medications often used together to treat a variety of conditions. They are commonly prescribed for:
- Birth Control: These medications can be used to prevent pregnancy by regulating the menstrual cycle and inhibiting ovulation (the release of eggs from the ovaries).
- Hormone Imbalance: They are also used to balance hormones in conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or hirsutism, which can cause unwanted hair growth and irregular periods.
- Acne: Cyproterone acetate and ethinylestradiol are sometimes prescribed to manage severe acne in women, especially when other treatments haven't been effective.
- Excessive Hair Growth: In cases of excessive facial or body hair in women (known as hirsutism), these medications can help reduce hair growth.
- Androgenetic Alopecia: They may be used to treat female pattern hair loss.
Moderate To Severe Acne In Females Of Child-bearing Age Refractory To Topical Therapy Or Oral Antibacterials, Moderate To Severe Hirsutism:
- Females Of Childbearing Potential: 1 Tablet Daily For 21 Days, Started On Day 1 Of Menstrual Cycle; Subsequent Courses Repeated After A 7 Day Interval(during Which Withdrawal Bleeding Occurs), Time Tosymptom Remission, At Least 3 Months; Review Need For treatment Regularly
