Desogestrel with Ethinyl Estradiol
Therapeutic Group
Hormonal Contraceptives (Combination)Indication Dosage
Desogestrel with ethinyl estradiol is a combination hormonal contraceptive that is used to prevent pregnancy. It works by preventing ovulation, or the release of an egg from the ovary, and by making it more difficult for sperm to reach and fertilize an egg.
In addition to its use as a contraceptive, desogestrel with ethinyl estradiol may also be used to treat certain menstrual cycle-related conditions, such as heavy or painful periods, premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). However, it is important to note that this medication is not a first-line treatment for these conditions and should only be used under the guidance of a healthcare provider.
