Indication Dosage

Potassium citrate is a medication that is commonly used to prevent and treat kidney stones. It works by reducing the acidity of urine, which helps to prevent the formation of certain types of kidney stones. Potassium citrate can also be used to treat metabolic acidosis, a condition in which there is too much acid in the body. It is available in various forms, including tablets, capsules, and powders, and is typically taken by mouth.

Prevention And Treatment Of Potassium Depletion Especially During Diuretic Therapy: 

  • Adults: 20 Meq To 40 Meq Daily In Divided Doses. 
  • Children: Not Recommended.

  • Serum Plasma-potassium Concentration Above 5mmol/litre, Severe Renal Impairment, Acute Dehydration, Conditions Predisposing To Hyperkalaemia, Gastric Obstruction Or Ulceration, Extensive Tissue Damage, Metabolic Acidosis.
