Indication Dosage

Sulfasalazine is a medication used to treat conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease (such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease). It helps reduce pain, swelling, and inflammation in your joints and intestines, making you feel better. Your doctor may prescribe it when you have these problems.

Treatment Ulcerative Colitis, Active Crohn's Disease: 

  • Adults: 2-4 Tab For 2-3 Wk; Maintenance, 4 Tab Daily In Divided Doses. 
  • Children Above 2 Yr: 40-60 Mg/kg Body-wt. Daily; Maintenance, 20-30 Mg/kg Body-wt. Daily. 

Active Rheumatoid Arthritis: 

  • Adults: Initially 1 Daily For 1 Wk, Increasing By 1 Each Wk To Max 6 Daily In Divided Doses. 
  • Children: Not Recommended.
