Indications:
Chronic Granulomatous Disease (CGD): Interferon gamma-1b is used as part of a comprehensive treatment regimen for CGD, a genetic disorder diagnosed in childhood. CGD impairs the immune system's ability to effectively combat infections. Although ACTIMMUNE does not cure CGD, it helps enhance the body’s ability to fight infections when combined with antibiotics and antifungals.
Severe Malignant Osteopetrosis (SMO): Interferon gamma-1b is also indicated for slowing the progression of SMO, a severe genetic disorder that disrupts normal bone formation and is typically identified within the first few months of life.
Dosage:
For Chronic Granulomatous Disease (CGD): The recommended dosage of Interferon gamma-1b is typically 50 mcg/m² administered subcutaneously three times a week. Dosage adjustments may be made based on individual patient response and tolerability.
For Severe Malignant Osteopetrosis (SMO): The standard dosage is 50 mcg/m² administered subcutaneously three times a week. Adjustments may be necessary based on patient-specific factors and response to treatment.
