Indication Dosage
Medroxyprogesterone acetate is prescribed for the treatment of various medical conditions, including:
- Abnormal Uterine Bleeding: It is used to manage irregular or heavy menstrual bleeding in women.
- Amenorrhea: Medroxyprogesterone acetate can help restore menstruation in women who have stopped having their periods.
- Endometriosis: It is utilized to alleviate the pain and discomfort associated with endometriosis, a condition in which the tissue lining the uterus grows outside of it.
- Contraception: It can be administered as a contraceptive injection to prevent pregnancy.
- Renal Carcinoma: In some cases, this medication may be used in the treatment of renal carcinoma, a form of kidney cancer.
- Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT): Medroxyprogesterone acetate is also employed as part of hormone replacement therapy for postmenopausal women, helping to alleviate menopausal symptoms and reduce the risk of uterine cancer when used with estrogen.
Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding:

- Adult (Female): 2.5-10 Mg Daily For 5-10 Days, Repeated For 2 Cycles, Begin Treatment On Day 16-21 Of Cycle
Secondary Amenorrhoea:

- Adult (Female): 2.5-10 Mg Daily For 5-10 Days, Repeated For 3 Cycles, Begin Treatment On Day 16-21 Of Cycle
Mild To Moderate Endometriosis:
Oral:
- Adult (Female): 10 Mg 3 Times A Day For 90 Consecutive Days, Begin Treatment On Day 1 Of Cycle
By IM Inj:
- Adults: 50 Mg Each Week Or 100 Mg Every 2 Week For 6 Months Or Longer.
Progestogenic Opposition Of Oestrogen Hrt:
Oral:
- Adult (Female): 10 Mg Daily For The Last 14 Days Of Each 28-day Oestrogen Hrt Cycle
Breast Carcinoma:
Oral:
- Adult: 0.4-1.5 Gm Daily, Dose Adjusted According To Response (by Specialist Only)
Endometrial And Renal Carcinoma:
Oral:
- Adult: 200-600 Mg Daily, Dose Adjusted According To Response (by Specialist Only)
Prostatic Carcinoma:

- Adult: 100-600 Mg Daily, Dose Adjusted According To Response (by Specialist Only)

- Females Of Childbearing Potential: 150 Mg Every12 Weeks, To Be Administered Within The First 5 Days Of Cycle Or Within First 5 Days After Parturition (delay Until 6 Weeks After Parturition If Breast-feeding)
By Sc Inj:
- Females Of Childbearing Potential: 104 Mg, Administered Within First 5 Days Of Cycle Or Within 5 Days Postpartum (delay Until 6 Weeks Postpartum If Breast-feeding), Injected Into Anterior Thigh Or Abdomen, Dose Only Suitable If No Hormonal Contraceptive Use In Previous Month
