Trimebutine maleate is a medication that is used to treat functional gastrointestinal disorders, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), chronic constipation, and other gastrointestinal motility disorders. It works by regulating the smooth muscle contractions in the gastrointestinal tract, thereby reducing symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, and constipation. Trimebutine maleate is also sometimes used to treat other conditions, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and dyspepsia. It is usually taken orally in tablet form.
