Ethinylestradiol + Gestodene is a combination of two hormones, ethinylestradiol, and gestodene, that is used as an oral contraceptive to prevent pregnancy. It works by suppressing ovulation, thickening the cervical mucus to prevent sperm from reaching the egg, and altering the lining of the uterus to prevent the implantation of a fertilized egg. In addition to its contraceptive properties, it may also be used to regulate menstrual cycles and reduce symptoms associated with premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and menstrual cramps.
Dosage:
Ethinylestradiol + Gestodene is typically taken orally once daily, at the same time each day, for 21 days of the menstrual cycle followed by a 7-day break. The usual starting dose is 20 mcg of ethinylestradiol and 75 mcg of gestodene.
