Budesonide and formoterol fumarate is a combination medication used to treat asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in adults. Specifically, it is indicated for:
Maintenance treatment of asthma in patients aged 6 years and older who require a combination of inhaled corticosteroids and long-acting beta2-agonists.
Maintenance treatment of COPD, including chronic bronchitis and emphysema, in patients with moderate to severe airflow obstruction who have a history of exacerbations.
For adults with asthma or COPD, the recommended starting dose of budesonide and formoterol fumarate is usually one inhalation twice a day. The maximum recommended dose is two inhalations twice a day.
For children with asthma between the ages of 6 and 11 years, the recommended dose is one inhalation twice a day.

Contra Indications
Budesonide and formoterol fumarate is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to budesonide, formoterol, or any of the excipients in the medication. It should also not be used for the treatment of acute bronchospasm or as a rescue medication for the relief of acute symptoms.
