Indication Dosage
Diatrizoate Meglumine & Diatrizoate Sodium is a types of iodinated contrast agents used for medical imaging studies. The indications for Diatrizoate Meglumine & Diatrizoate Sodium include:
- Intravenous urography (IVU): a type of X-ray examination of the urinary system, which includes the kidneys, ureters, and bladder.
- Retrograde pyelography (RP): a type of X-ray examination that produces detailed images of the kidneys, ureters, and bladder, by injecting the contrast medium through a catheter inserted into the ureter.
- Cystography: a type of X-ray examination that produces images of the bladder, by filling the bladder with the contrast medium.
- Hysterosalpingography (HSG): a type of X-ray examination that produces images of the uterus and fallopian tubes, by injecting the contrast medium through the cervix.
- Arthrography: a type of X-ray examination that produces images of the joints, by injecting the contrast medium into the joint space.
- Angiography: a type of X-ray examination that produces images of the blood vessels, by injecting the contrast medium into the blood vessels.
Dosage:
The usual recommended adult dose of Diatrizoate Meglumine + Diatrizoate Sodium for intravenous urography (IVU) is 30-60 mL of the contrast medium, administered rapidly by injection

- Known hypersensitivity to Diatrizoate Meglumine + Diatrizoate Sodium; anuria or severe renal failure; severe dehydration or preexisting electrolyte imbalance.
