Indication Dosage
Sulfadoxine and Pyrimethamine a medications indicated for the treatment and prevention of malaria, particularly in areas where the Plasmodium falciparum parasite is resistant to other antimalarial drugs. This combination medication works by disrupting the growth and reproduction of the malaria parasite in the body, helping to alleviate symptoms and reduce the risk of infection.
Prophylaxis And Treatment Of Plasmodium Falciparum Malaria:
Prophylaxis:
- Adult: Non-immune Patient: 1 Tab As A Single Dose Once In A Week;
Semi-immune Patient: 2-3 Tab Once Every Four Weeks. - Children Below 4 Yr: Quarter Adult Dose; 4-8 Yr: Half Adult Dose; 9-14 Yr, Three-quarters Adult Dose.
Treatment:
- Adult & Children Above 14 Yr: 2-3 Tab As A Single Dose.
- Children: Below 4 Yr, 1/2 Tab; 4-8 Yr, 1 Tab; 9-14 Yr, 2 Tab. All As A Single Dose Suspension:
Treatment:
- Adults: 15 Ml In Single Dose.
- Children: Single Dose: Below 4 Yr: 2.5 Ml; 4-6 Yr: 5 Ml; 7-9 Yr: 7.5 Ml; 10- 14 Yr, 10 Ml.
