Indication Dosage
Misoprostol is a medication used to prevent stomach ulcers in people who take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen. It works by decreasing the amount of acid produced in the stomach and increasing the production of protective mucus. Misoprostol can also be used to induce labor and terminate a pregnancy, but only under the supervision of a healthcare provider. It is important to follow the dosage instructions and precautions provided by your healthcare provider to avoid potential side effects.
Benign Gastric Ulceration, Benign Duodenal Ulceration, Nsaid-associated Ulceration:
- Adult: 800 Micrograms Daily In 2-4 Divided Doses For At Least 4 Weeks, May Be Continued For Up To 8 Weeks If Required, Dose To Be Taken With Breakfast (or Main Meals) And At Bedtime.
Prophylaxis Of Nsaid-induced Gastric Ulcer Prophylaxis Of Duodenal Ulcer:
- Adult: 200 Micrograms 4 Times A Day, Reduced If Not Tolerated To 200 Mcg 2-3 Times A Day.
- Children: Not Recommended.
