Methyl Salicylate is a topical analgesic and counterirritant used for the temporary relief of pain associated with muscle and joint conditions such as arthritis, strains, sprains, and backache. It works by producing a sensation of warmth in the affected area, which helps to relieve pain and discomfort.
Methyl Salicylate is also used in the treatment of minor aches and pains associated with a common cold, headaches, toothaches, and menstrual cramps. It should not be used on open wounds or damaged skin.
Dosage:
Topical cream or ointment: Apply a thin layer to the affected area 3 to 4 times daily.
Topical solution: Apply a few drops to the affected area and rub in gently, up to 4 times daily.
Oral capsules or tablets: Take as directed by a healthcare professional, usually 325 to 650 mg every 4 hours as needed for pain or fever.
