Indication Dosage

Estradiol valerate and norgestrel are often combined in hormonal contraceptives to provide both estrogen and progestin hormones for effective birth control. Indications for the combined use of these hormones include:

• Hormonal Contraception: Estradiol valerate and norgestrel are used together in combination with birth control pills, patches, and vaginal rings to prevent pregnancy.
• Menstrual Regulation: The combination of estradiol valerate and norgestrel may be used to regulate menstrual cycles and reduce menstrual pain and bleeding.
• Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT): In some cases, the combination of estradiol valerate and norgestrel may be used as part of HRT for postmenopausal women to relieve symptoms such as hot flashes and vaginal dryness.

Dosage:

Combination Birth Control Pills: The usual dosage of estradiol valerate in combination with norgestrel in a birth control pill is one pill per day, taken at the same time every day. 

Contraceptive Patch: The dosage of estradiol valerate and norgestrel in the patch may vary depending on the brand. Typically, one patch is worn for one week, and a new patch is applied every week for three weeks, followed by one patch-free week.

Vaginal Ring: The dosage of estradiol valerate and norgestrel in the vaginal ring may vary depending on the brand. Typically, one ring is inserted and left in place for three weeks, followed by one week without a ring.
