Magnesium hydroxide gel, also known as Milk of Magnesia, is used for several indications, including:
- Constipation: Magnesium hydroxide is a laxative that works by drawing water into the intestines, which helps soften stools and promote bowel movements.
- Indigestion: Milk of Magnesia is sometimes used as an antacid to neutralize excess stomach acid and relieve symptoms of indigestion, heartburn, and sour stomach.
- Acidity Reduction: Magnesium hydroxide is sometimes used to reduce acidity in conditions such as renal tubular acidosis and metabolic acidosis.
