Thioguanine is a medication primarily indicated for the treatment of certain types of leukemia, specifically acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). It belongs to a class of drugs known as antimetabolites and works by interfering with the growth and proliferation of cancer cells. Thioguanine is typically prescribed as part of combination chemotherapy regimens and is essential in the management of these aggressive forms of leukemia.
Acute Leukaemia, Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia:
- Adult: 100-200 Mg/m2 Daily, Can Be Given At Variousstages Of treatments in Short-term Cycles Usually For 5-7 days or Until Remission Is Attained.
- Children: 3.3 Mg/kg/day In Divided Doses For 4 Days.
