Tiotropium Bromide + Formoterol Fumarate is a combination medication used for the long-term maintenance treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. It is not indicated for the treatment of acute symptoms of COPD or asthma.
The medication works by relaxing the muscles in the airways to improve breathing and reduce the frequency of exacerbations. Tiotropium Bromide is a long-acting anticholinergic bronchodilator that helps to open the airways by blocking the action of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that constricts the airways. Formoterol Fumarate is a long-acting beta-agonist bronchodilator that helps to open the airways by stimulating beta receptors in the lungs.
Tiotropium Bromide + Formoterol Fumarate is typically prescribed for patients with moderate to severe COPD or asthma who are not adequately controlled with other medications such as inhaled corticosteroids or short-acting bronchodilators. It is usually taken once daily, at the same time each day, via an inhaler device.
