Tropisetron HCl is a medication that is used to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy or radiation therapy for cancer. It is also used to prevent nausea and vomiting after surgery. Tropisetron works by blocking serotonin receptors in the brain and gastrointestinal tract, which are responsible for triggering the sensation of nausea and vomiting.
Nausea And Vomiting Induced By Chemotherapy:
By Slow IV Inj Or Infusion:
Adults: 5 Mg By Slow IV Inj Or Infusion Shortly Before Chemotherapy Followed By 1 Cap Each Morning 1 Hr Before Food For 5 Days.
Children Above 2 Yr: 0.2 Mg/kg By Slow IV Inj Or Infusion Shortly Before Chemotherapy Up To A maximum daily Dose Of 5 Mg. In Children Under 25 Kg, Repeat IV administration On Day 2 Up To Day 5 Depending On the Chemotherapy Regimen, In Children Over 25 Kg, 5 Mg Orally On Day 2 Up To Day 6.
Prevention Of Post-operative Nausea And Vomiting:
By Slow IV Inj Or Infusion:
Adults: 2 Mg Dose By Slow IV or Infusion Shortly Before Induction Of An-Aesthesia.
Treatment Of Post-operative Nausea And Vomiting:
By Slow IV Inj Or Infusion:
Adults: One 2 Mg Dose By IV or Infusion Within 2 Hr Of The End Of An aesthesia.
