Indication Dosage

Vigabatrin is a medication that is used to treat a certain type of seizure called "complex partial seizures" in people who have epilepsy. It can also be prescribed for another condition called infantile spasms in babies. This medication works by helping to control and reduce the number of seizures you may experience. It should only be used under the supervision of a doctor or healthcare professional.

Adjunctive Treatment Of Focal Seizures With Or Without Secondary Generalisation Not Satisfactorily Controlled With Other Antiepileptics: 

• Adult: Initially 1 G Once Daily Or In 2 Divided Doses, Then Increased In Steps Of 500 Mg Every Week, Adjusted According To Response; Maximum 3 G Per Day Preferably In Divided Doses 
• Children 1 Month -2 yrs: Initially 15-20 Mg/kg Twice Daily (max. Per Dose 250 Mg), To Be Increased Over 2-3 Weeks To Usual Maintenance Dose 30-40 Mg/kg Twice Daily (max. Per Dose 75 Mg/kg); 
• 2-11 Yrs: Initially 15-20 Mg/kg Twice Daily (max. Per Dose 250 Mg), To Be Increased Over 2-3 Weeks To Usual Maintenance Dose, 30-40 Mg/kg Twice Daily (max. Per Dose 1.5 G); 
• 12-17 Yrs: Initially 250 Mg Twice Daily, To Be Increased Over 2-3 Weeks To Usual Maintenance Dose 1-1.5 G Twice Daily
