Beta-Lactamase Sensitive Penicillins

Indication Dosage

Mild To Severe Streptococcal Infections Group A Of Upper Respiratory Tract, Skin And Soft Tissues, Scarlet Fever, Erysipelas, Otitis Media: 

By Deep IM Inj: 

  • Adults: 2.4 Million Units. 
  • Children: 30-60 Lbs, 0.9-1.2 Million Units; Infants & Children Under 30 Lbs., 0.6 Million Units, Injection At A Single Session Using Multiple Im Sites When Indicated. Alternatively, Give 1/2 The Total Dose On Day 1 And the Remaining 1/2 Of the Total Dose On Day 3. 

Pneumococcal Infections (except Pneumococcal Meningitis): 

By Deep IM Inj: 

  • Adults: 1.2 Million Units. 
  • Children: 0.6 Million Units, Repeated Every 2 Or 3 Days Until The Temperature Is Normal For 48 Hr

  • Dry Mouth
  • Furry Tongue
  • Hemorrhagic Manifestation
  • Interstitial Nephritis (e.g Oliguria
  • Hematuria)
  • Nephrotoxicity
  • Accumulation Of Sodium From Injection Can Occur In Renal Failure. High Doses May Cause Neurotoxicity
  • Including Cerebral Irritation
  • Convulsions
  • Or Coma.
