Indication Dosage

Susceptible Infections Due To Sensitive Gram-positive And Gram-negative Bacteria: 

By IV Infusion, Or IV Inj Or Deep IM Inj: 

  • Adult: 1-2 G Every 8 Hours; 
  • Children Above 2 Months: 30-100 Mg/kg/day In 2 Or 3 Divided Doses; 
  • Below 2 Months, 25-60 Mg/kg/day In 2 Divided Doses. 

Complicated Urinary-tract Infection: 

By IV Infusion, Or IV Inj Or Deep IM Inj: 

  • Adult: 1-2 G Every 8-12 Hours; 
  • Children Above 2 Months: 30-100 Mg/kg/day In 2 Or 3 Divided Doses; 
  • Below 2 Months, 25-60 Mg/kg/day In 2 Divided Dose 

Septicaemia, Hospital-acquired Pneumonia, Meningitis: 

By IV Infusion, Or IV Inj Or Deep IM Inj: 

  • Adult: 2 G Every 8 Hours; 
  • Children Above 2 Months: 30-100 Mg/kg/day In 2 Or 3 Divided Doses; 
  • Below 2 Months, 25-60 Mg/kg/day In 2 Divided Dose 

Febrile Neutropenia: 

By IV Infusion, Or IV Inj Or Deep IM Inj: 

  • Adult: 2 G Every 8 Hours; 
  • Children Above 2 Months: 30-100 Mg/kg/day In 2 Or 3 Divided Doses; 
  • Below 2 Months, 25-60 Mg/kg/day In 2 Divided Dose 

Prophylaxis For Transurethral Resection Of Prostate: 

By IV Infusion, Or IV Inj Or Deep IM Inj: 

  • Adult: 1 G, Single Dose To Be Administered Up To 30 Minutes Before Procedure And May Be Repeated If necessary When Catheter Removed 

Pseudomonal Lung Infection In Cystic Fibrosis: 

By IV Infusion, Or IV Inj Or Deep IM Inj: 

  • Adult: 100-150 Mg/kg Daily In 3 Divided Doses; Maximum 9 G Per Day; 
  • Children Above 2 Months: 30-100 Mg/kg/day In 2 Or 3 Divided Doses; 
  • Below 2 Months, 25-60 Mg/kg/day In 2 Divided Dose 

Bone Infection: 

By IV Infusion, OrIV Inj: 

  • Adults: 2 Gm Every 12 Hr. 
  • Children: 1 Month-12 Yr: 30-50 Mg/kg Every 8 Hr, Up To 6 Gm/day; 0-4 Weeks: 30 Mg/kg Every 12 Hr.
