Eltrombopag Olamine is a medication used to treat low platelet counts in your blood, which can occur due to conditions like chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) or hepatitis C-related thrombocytopenia. It helps increase your platelet levels, which are important for clotting and preventing bleeding. Your doctor may prescribe it to help keep your blood platelets at a healthier level.
Treatment Of Chronic Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura in Splenectomised Patients' Refractory To Other Treatments, Second-line Treatment Of Chronic Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura In Non-splenectomies Patients When Surgery Is Contraindicated:
- Adult: Initially 50 Mg Once Daily, Dose To Be Adjusted To Achieve A Platelet Count Of 50x109/liter Or More, Consult Product Literature For Dose Adjustments, Discontinue If Inadequate Response After 4 weeks of Treatment At Maximum Dose; Maximum 75 Mg Per Day. Reduce Daily Dose By 25 Mg; Reassess In 2 Weeks. If Platelet Count Reaches the Desired Level After 2 weeks at The Lowest Dose, Discontinue Treatment.
Treatment Of Thrombocytopenia Associated With Chronic Hepatitis C Infection, Where The Degree Of Thrombocytopenia Is The Main Factor Preventing The Ability To Maintain Optimal Interferon-based Therapy:
- Adult: Initially 25 Mg Once Daily, Dose To Be Adjusted To Achieve A Platelet Count Sufficient To Initiate Antiviral Therapy Then A Platelet Count Of 50-75x109/liter During Antiviral Therapy, Consult Product Literature For Dose Adjustments, Discontinue If Inadequate Response After2 Weeks Treatment At Maximum Dose; Maximum100 Mg Per Day
