Indication Dosage

Hydralazine is a medication primarily prescribed to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It works by relaxing and dilating blood vessels, which helps to reduce blood pressure and improve blood flow, thereby reducing the workload on the heart. Hydralazine may also be used in combination with other medications to manage certain heart conditions, such as congestive heart failure. 

Moderate To Severe Hypertension (adjunct) 

Oral: 

  • Adult: Initially 25 Mg Twice Daily, Increased If Necessary up To 50 Mg Twice Daily 

Heart Failure (with Long-Acting Nitrate): 

Oral: 

  • Adult: Initially 25 Mg 3-4 Times A Day, Subsequent Doses To Be Increased Every 2 Days If Necessary; Usual Maintenance 50-75 Mg 4 Times A Day 

Hypertensive Emergencies (including During Pregnancy), Hypertension With Renal Complications: 

By IV Infusion: 

  • Adult: Initially 200-300 Mcg/min; Usual Maintenance 50-150 Mcg/min 

By Slow IV Inj: 

  • Adult: 5-10 Mg, To Be Diluted With 10ml Sodium Chloride 0.9%; Dose May Be Repeated After 20-30 Minutes 
  • Children: As Prescribed By Pediatric Physician.

Content

  • Inj: Hydralazine Hcl: 120mg; Powder For Reconstitution.
  • Tab: Hydralazine Hci 25mg.

Pregnancy

Caution Advised, Neonatal Thrombocytopenia Reported.

Stability

  • Antihypertensive: Vasodilator

Contra Indications

  • Idiopathic Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Severe Tachycardia, High Output Heart Failure, Myocardial Insufficiency Due To Mechanical Obstruction, Corpulmonale, Dissecting Aortic Aneurysm, Acute Porphyria.

Precautions

Lactation

  • Caution Advised or Effect Undetermined.

  • Dizziness; Systemic Lupus Erythematosus-like Syndrome After Long-term Therapy With Over 100 Mg Daily
  • Rarely Rashes

  • Peripheral Neuritis
  • Polyneuritis
  • Pathesthatla
  • Arthralgia
  • Myalgia
  • Increased Lacrimation
  • Nasal Congestion
  • Dyspnoea
  • Agitation
  • Anxiety
  • Anorexia; Blood Disorders (including Leucopenia
  • Thrombocytopenia
  • Haemolyticanae-mia)
  • Abnormal Liver Function
  • Jaundice
  • Raised Plasma Creatinine
  • Proteinuria And Haematuria Reported. Side Effects Are Less If The Dose Is Kept Below 100mg Daily.
