Drugs For ConstipationIndication Dosage
Constipation: Lactitol is a laxative that works by drawing water into the intestines, which helps soften stools and promote bowel movements.
Dosage:
- Syrup for Adults: 15 To 30 Ml Per Day, Once Daily.
- Syrup for Children: 2 To 6 Yr: 10 Ml Per Day, Once Daily. Above 6 Yr: 10-15 Ml Per Day, Once Daily. The Laxative Action May Not Begin Until The 2nd Or 3rd Day After The Initial Dose.
- Sachet for Adults: Two Sachets (20 Gm) Taken In A Single Dose With The Morning Or Evening Meal And Subsequently Adjusted Dose Of 10 Gm Daily To Produce 1 Soft Stool Daily.
Hepatic Encephalopathy: Lactitol is sometimes used as a treatment for hepatic encephalopathy, a condition that occurs as a result of liver failure and can cause confusion, changes in behavior, and coma. Lactitol works by reducing the amount of ammonia in the gut, which can help improve symptoms.
Dosage:
- Adults: 30 Ml Once Daily In The Evening. For The Treatment Of Acute Phases, 45 To 90 Ml In 3 Divided Doses Along With Main Meals.
Diabetes: Lactitol has a low glycemic index and is considered a suitable sweetener for individuals with diabetes, as it does not raise blood sugar levels.
Weight Management: Lactitol is sometimes used as a low-calorie sweetener in food and beverage products to help individuals control their calorie intake and manage their weight.
