Indication Dosage

Indication:
Prucalopride is used to treat chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC) in adults when other laxatives have not been effective. It helps improve bowel movements by stimulating intestinal motility.

Dosage:

  • Adults: 2 mg once daily, with or without food.
  • Elderly (Over 65 years): Start with 1 mg once daily, which may be increased to 2 mg if needed.
  • Children: Not recommended under 18 years unless prescribed by a doctor.

Contra Indications

  • Prucalopride is contraindicated in individuals with severe kidney disease, intestinal obstruction, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, or a history of severe allergic reactions to the drug. It should also be avoided in patients with serious heart conditions.
