Anti-thrombotic Agents

Indication Dosage

Urokinase is a medication used to dissolve blood clots in the body. It's often prescribed when someone has a clot that needs to be broken up to prevent serious health problems like heart attacks or strokes.

Deep-vein Thrombosis (thromboembolic Occlusive Vascular Disease): 

  • Adult: Initially 4400 Units/kg, Over 10 Minutes, In 15ml Sodium Chloride 0.9%, Followed By 4400 Units/kg/hr For 12-24 Hrs. 

Pulmonary Embolism (thromboembolic Occlusive Vascular Disease): 

  • Adult: Initially 4400 Units/kg, Over 10 Minutes, In 15ml Sodium Chloride 0.9%, Followed By (by IV infusion) 4400 Mcg/kg/hr For 12 Hrs, Alternatively (by Intra-arterial Injection) Initially 15000 Units/kg, To Be Injected Into Pulmonary Artery, Subsequent Doses Adjusted According To Response; Maximum 3 Doses Per Day 

Occlusive Peripheral Arterial Disease: 

By Intra-arterial Infusion: 

  • Adult: Consult Product Literature 

Occluded Intravenous Catheters And Cannulas (blocked By Fibrin Clots): 

By Intra-arterial Or IV Inj: 

  • Adult: 5000-25 000 Units, To Be Injected Directly Into a Catheter Or Cannula, Dissolved In Sodium Chloride 0.9% To Fill The Catheter Or Cannula Lumen; Leave For 20-60 Min Then Aspirate The Lysate; Repeat If Necessary.

  • Inj: Per Vial: Urokinase 25,000 /50,000 Units; Powder For Reconstitution.

  • Antithrombotic Drugs; Tissue Plasminogen Activators

Contra Indications

  • Recent Bleeding Following Surgery, Cerebrovascular Bleeding, Severe Hypertension.
