DiureticIndication Dosage
Eplerenone is a medication primarily indicated for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension). It is also used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in patients who have heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (a condition where the heart's pumping ability is impaired). Eplerenone works by blocking the action of aldosterone, a hormone that can cause sodium and water retention, ultimately helping to lower blood pressure and improve heart function.
Adjunct In Stable Patients With Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction 40% Or Less With Evidence Of Heart Failure Following myocardial Infarction (start Therapy Within 3-14 Days Of Event), Adjunct In Chronic Mild Heart Failure With Leftventricular Ejection Fraction 30% Or Less:
- Adult: Initially 25 Mg Daily, Then Increased To 50 Mg Daily, Increased Within 4 Weeks Of Initial Treatment
- Children: Not Recommended.
