Mitoxantrone is a medication primarily indicated for the treatment of certain types of cancer, including metastatic breast cancer, acute nonlymphocytic leukemia (ANLL), and advanced prostate cancer. Additionally, it is used in the management of multiple sclerosis (MS) to reduce the frequency of relapses and delay disability progression in selected patients with relapsing-remitting or secondary progressive forms of the disease. Mitoxantrone works by interfering with the growth and replication of cancer cells or by modulating the immune system in the case of MS, providing a valuable therapeutic option in these conditions when prescribed and monitored by a healthcare professional.
