Indication Dosage

Meglumine gadopentetate is a gadolinium-based contrast agent used for medical imaging studies, such as MRI scans. It is indicated for use in adult and pediatric patients to visualize areas of the body where there is abnormal vascularity or abnormal blood-brain barrier permeability. Specifically, meglumine gadopentetate can be used to help detect and evaluate lesions or abnormalities in the brain, spine, liver, kidneys, and other organs or tissues. 

Here are some indications for the use of meglumine gadopentetate:

• Central nervous system (CNS) imaging: It is used to enhance the visibility of CNS structures, such as the brain and spinal cord, in MRI scans. It can help in the diagnosis of various conditions like brain tumors, infections, multiple sclerosis, and stroke.
• Body imaging: Meglumine gadopentetate can be used in MRI scans of the body to enhance the visibility of organs and blood vessels. It is used in the diagnosis and monitoring of conditions like liver tumors, breast cancer, and inflammatory bowel disease.
• Cardiovascular imaging: It is used in MRI scans of the heart and blood vessels to enhance the visibility of structures like the heart chambers, valves, and blood vessels. It is useful in the diagnosis and monitoring of various cardiovascular conditions like heart disease and aortic aneurysms.

Dosage:

• Adult dose: 0.1 mmol/kg given intravenously at a rate of 2 mL per second.
• Pediatric dose: Adjusted based on weight.
