Finasteride

Therapeutic Group

Drugs For Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy

Indication Dosage

Finasteride is a medication primarily indicated for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia). In the context of BPH, it helps reduce the symptoms associated with an enlarged prostate, such as urinary hesitancy and frequent urination. For male pattern baldness, Finasteride is used to slow down hair loss and promote the regrowth of hair in men experiencing thinning at the crown and middle of the scalp. It works by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone implicated in both conditions.
