Prasugrel is a medication that is used to help prevent blood clots in people who have had heart-related problems like heart attacks or certain types of chest pain. It works by making the platelets in your blood less sticky, which reduces the risk of clots that can block blood flow to the heart. Your doctor may prescribe Prasugrel to keep your blood flowing smoothly and lower the chances of having another heart problem.
In Combination With Aspirin For The Prevention Of Atherothrombotic Events In Patients With Acute Coronary Syndrome Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention:
- Adult 18-75+ Yrs (body weight Up To 60 Kg): Initially 60 Mg For 1 Dose, Then 5 Mg Once Daily Up To 1 Yr.
- Adult 18-74 Yrs (body weight 60 Kg And Above): Initially 60 Mg For 1 Dose, Then 10 Mg Once Daily Up To 1 Yr.
Patients Undergoing Coronary Angiography Within 48 Hours Of Admission For Unstable Angina Or Nstemi:
- Adult: Loading Dose 60 Mg, Only At The Time Of Percutaneous Coronary Intervention To Minimize The Risk Of Bleeding, Maintenance Dose Of 10 Mg Or 5mg Daily According To Age And Weight Of Patient.
Alternative To Clopidogrel In Certain Patients Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention:
- Adult: 60 Mg, As A Single Dose
- Children: Not Recommended.
