Misoprostol is a medication used to prevent stomach ulcers in people who take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen. It works by decreasing the amount of acid produced in the stomach and increasing the production of protective mucus. Misoprostol can also be used to induce labor and terminate a pregnancy, but only under the supervision of a healthcare provider. It is important to follow the dosage instructions and precautions provided by your healthcare provider to avoid potential side effects.
